Janet Billings: Sandra says DIANA's daughter was Joan, married Johnnie Wallace. They lived in Edinburgh. I think their daughter was BARBARA and that she married an American soldier: Sandra says he was a doctor and black. I have a vague memory of family unease about the marriage but no recollection what it was. In 1944/5, if Sandra's right, I can imagine prim and proper Aunty Kate, who thought herself better than her neighbours, being shocked and dismayed, the rest of the family probably uncomfortable.
