Girl Scouts Give Circus and 'Christmas Party'
The annual six-week camp session of Queens girl scouts reached its climax yesterday afternoon when a "circus" was presented by 200 girls in Forest Park, Woodhaven, and another 150 youngsters participated in a "Christmas Party" as Cunningham Park.
The circus, directed by Mrs Lester Hayman of Forest Hills, camp supervisor, was attended by more than 400 mothers and friends in front of the band shell in Forest Park. The stage was decorated with huge Chinese lanters and brigthly colored fans and a procession of rolling, painted clowns tumbled on and off the platform between acts.
Mrs. George E. Spargo of Forest Hills, girl scout commissioner, played the piano for the performers.
Mrs. W. L. Grangen of Forest Hills, playground diretor of the Park Department, worked with the girl scout counsellors in planning the circus.
Frances Tragheim, 13, of 50-08 92nd street, Elmhurst, was the ringmaster. She wore a long black coat and carried a ringmaster's whip. Frances is a member of Troup 4-120.
